You will find a large selection of wines grown from different regions in Turkey many of which are quite palatable & are being exported worldwide.  These wines are widely available at the corner grocers, supermarkets & restaurants. Whether your choice is a full bodied red or a dry white, there is something to suit everyone’s taste.   

Raki, Turkey’s traditional aniseed based spirit is similar in taste to pernod.  It is normally drunk with water and lots of ice & due to its high alcoholic content, it's advisable to accompany it with lots of meze! A wide range of other local spirits - vodka, gin & brandy - are also cheaply available.
